We arrived early (11am) and our room wasn't available yet but they wanted her to be well so they gave us a bungalow for a few hours so she could sleep and rest until our bungalow was ready . Similarly, they brought her dry food to eat, and sent a town to bring her medicine.

The bungalows are a bit upscale. Simple but clean, with the little touches that make it special, like a comfy hammock on the balcony with a view, cozy ceiling fans, and a small fridge. Nice to end our journey through Sumatra in a place like this and enjoy the evening toilets again!

I was sick the first day so our brother could enjoy Freddie's delicious food for the lunch buffet, but the second day I had 3 full meals at freddies to make up for it. The lunch buffet is amazing! The beach is great. Able to rent snorkel gear and snorkel ahead of time to see plenty of beautiful fish.
Plus, the beautiful raft just out front provides wonderful entertainment and sightseeing/relaxation. My only wish/complaint is that Freddy could do more to educate residents about littering (especially the house next to the house that disposes of the trash outside). Their back door leads to the beach), and he may occasionally send some of his employees to pick up litter on either side of the park.
Its beaches and pools are clean, but the litter in every direction does make the place a bit small. Otherwise perfect, highly recommended! My friend and I stayed at Freddie's for three nights. When I called Freddie that morning to ask if he had a room for us, Freddie was very helpful and even told me how much I would have to pay (not a penny!) for a taxi from the ferry to his place.
Getting To Pulau Weh From Banda Aceh
North of Pulau Weh, away from tourist towns. This part of the island has very little wind and very few mosquitoes. Freddie's is a beautiful "hotel" that needs a better word. There are plenty of rooms, we stayed in the family room (one bunk bed and two single beds) as it was the only room left.
The room was of Indonesian origin with a nice balcony overlooking the beach. The "bathroom" is Asian style with a shower in the toilet. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean (I find this a bit off-putting in Indonesia).

A bit of a negative for me was that the room was hard to relax (some guests also commented), especially since ours was directly off the kitchen. It also means you'll wake up when the kitchen/reception area is playing music late or getting up early to prepare breakfast, so if you're a light sleeper ask for a room in the main building.
Freddie's attracts families, couples, friends and acquaintances. Solo traveller, something for everyone. food. Previous reviews of the food at Freddies have been mixed; breakfast was buffet style and not included in the room rate, which was 35,000 rupees as I recall. Breakfast is your normal dinner, but there are many different types.
Flying To Sabang

Dinner is mostly western but the food is well prepared, each evening Freddie or one of his team will come out to show the waiter the menu, there is always four courses; two waiters bring you the food, a huge buffet (
Usually about 6/7 courses) and dessert, then the waiter brings them out. The food at Freddie's on the beach (which he calls the à la carte restaurant) was very good. All western and Indonesian food. Wifi is good but limited to the common areas and rooms in the main building, there is also a computer that Freddie is happy to let guests use.
There are two beautiful aquariums in the reception/restaurant and it's easy to waste an hour watching the residents. If you're like me and don't like being in the water, the snorkeling here is fantastic. There is a pontoon in the ocean directly from Freddy's Beach, if you swim a little north of the pontoon and let the current take you to the beach, you can see (if you're lucky) octopuses, manta rays, eels, hundreds of species of blue starfish

and of course a lot of fish. When we arrived, we spoke to an American staff member of the UN in Banda Aceh, who told us that the northern part is one of the cleanest beaches in Pulau Weh, and that Iboh has sewage running through it.
Island Destinations
Going to the beach so we were happy to book at Freddie's. Overall I had a great time here and would definitely recommend it. Agree with the other reviews that Freddies are well managed. It was cold and for three days I read, ate, slept and snorkeled in this little paradise in Indonesia.
Disembark - Unless you have 3 crates, choose a motorcycle and a sidecar. They are very interesting and a great way to see parts of the island on the way to the hotel. My friend and I comfortably sat inside with our two large bags.

Freddie went out of his way to make sure we had a good time and the staff at the waterside cafe were amazing. Dinner was good, but we chose to eat at the local market, which serves delicious, cheap Aceh food.
The breakfast buffet was great and Freddie made sure all guests were happy with the choices. Overall Freddie is a great host and very helpful. Got there and didn't see any hotels or resorts except a small parking lot. There was a small sign showing us "Freddies Santai Sumur Tiga" which convinced us we were in the right place.
