When a friend told me about a clothing rental subscription called Nolly in 2019, I couldn't imagine spending nearly $90 a month on clothes I didn't have to keep.
Clothing Selection
But after seeing some of the breathtaking pieces she rented out, I signed up too. I've been using Novell since October 2019 and I have to say it's one of my favorite plans, and delivery day is always a monthly highlight. With over 50,000 subscribers, I'm not alone in falling in love with the service.
I don't want to exaggerate, but with Noelle I finally got to dress like myself. I have a bold, loud style, so I need more than a standard capsule wardrobe. However, the right budget for clothes is always a problem for me. I tend to spend a lot on flashy clothes that might go out of style, and I feel guilty for visiting cheap fast fashion sites just so I can try a new trend for the season.

With Noli, I can satisfy my need for a wild outfit without draining my wallet or feeling guilty for participating in the world of fast fashion. Nuuly currently has two divisions: Nuuly Rent subscription service and Nuuly Thrift, a resale marketplace. Nuuly Rent is a subscription service that I have been using for two years.
You are free to browse lookbooks and clothing before signing up to get a taste of their offerings. To sign up for Nuuly Rent, create a profile, set up your billing account to charge $88 per month, then choose six pieces of clothing to rent for the month.
Customer Service
You can rent six items, regardless of whether the standard retail price is $30 or $300. You also have the option to add two "bonus items" per month, but you cannot rent eight items at once. Once you've worn your items for a month, you can pay the discounted retail price to keep every piece you like, or put them all in your own Nuuly reusable bag with the included return label.
Six items can be returned (you don't have to worry about washing clothes before returning). Once you have returned your items, your virtual bag is "unlocked" and you can fill your Nolly Bag with up to six new items. Nuuly Thrift is a resale marketplace where you can buy and sell gently used items from other individual sellers looking to spruce up their wardrobes.
This part of the site works with regular Nuuly Cash payments that can be spent on the Nuuly Thrift site or any other URBN brand, such as Anthropologie, Free People, or Urban Outfitters. I recently started using Nuuly Thrift and while I appreciate their commitment to sustainability, I'll be focusing this honest review on Nuuly Rent since I've been using that plan for so long.

I'm impressed with the balance Nuuly finds between constantly adding new options and keeping the classic favourites. Skye Pollard, head of product at Noli, said the company uses a data-driven approach to see what Noli subscribers want. Nuuly's team can see what styles and sizes customers search for on the site and what items they keep in their closets.
Who Is Nuuly Good For?
Noli then uses that information to see which trends emerge. At the start of the pandemic, the company was quick to offer more stylish and comfortable loungewear. from URBN, so half the stock comes from Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People. If one of these brands is your thing, you'll find plenty of clothing options to suit your style. However, the company is always adding new brands to the collection added. When I first started using Novi I rented a bunch of free small clothes from People and Anthropologie. Now Farm Reeve is usually the first thing I fill my Nolly Bag with. I love that I can still explore brands
while making sure I have some reliable, perfect-fitting items in my bag. Your six items come in a reusable, zip-top bag with a return label. Once you've worn your items for the month, keep what you want to buy and put the rest back in the bag at the UPS store.
