The artifacts are placed against the backdrop of beautifully painted scenes that are true works of art. We were greeted at the entrance by Jeff Wolf who was very personable and welcoming. This is a must see if you are visiting Cherokee. To learn about the history of the area and the people who live there.
Enough to keep kids entertained while teaching. We went with 3 kids, ages 3-6, and they had a great time learning about and interacting with the sights. It was fun and educational. A good place to go and learn something you don't know. If you love visiting museums, you will love this for the whole family.
The museum is a well-managed place with many artifacts, videos, and guide signs to introduce you to the history of the Cherokee Indians. Get ready to learn! It has a sound and little else that is better suited to older children and adults. The stories and artifacts are interesting and the best part is that they give you a choice whether or not to go to the gift shop.

Definitely a great break from the White Man museums I've been to. Admittedly, we chose to go in because we are "white" and couldn't pass up the opportunity for a gift shop. It was nice to have a choice though. The shop was also clean and accessible whether you were in the museum lobby or not.

It takes about an hour to cross it. If you read everything, plan for more, but not more. Maybe another 30 minutes or so. Definitely worth a visit and the price of admission. This was more information than I thought. They offered a good mix of mediums to keep the kids interested.
We spent over an hour going through the entire museum. In addition to the shared images and diaries, I was deeply impressed by the personal stories created through audio. It's always good to remember, so let's not repeat our mistakes with our groups. It was also helpful to see this story before watching the drama Up to These Hills.
