A visa for 30 days can be obtained at Banda Aceh Airport. The embassy in Kuala Lumpur can sometimes get a visa at the same time if you fill out all the documents in the afternoon, but this is only for residents of Malaysia. There are night buses with a travel time of 9-13 hours - from Medan to Banda Aceh.

Major bus companies such as PMTOH, Pelangi, Kurnia and Pusaka have offices on Jl. Gadja Mada, Medan. The price ranges from Rs 110,000 for a standard bus to Rs 200,000 for a bus with wide seats. Minibuses can also take you from the Medan area to Banda Aceh, but the trip is usually longer.

Like all travelers, common sense and a good attitude are important in this small town. However, there are some points to keep in mind. While Banda Aceh is currently safer than most European cities, it's best not to venture out alone after 10 pm. Since Sharia law is respected, the consumption of alcohol is forbidden, although it is still possible.
