Consider making a gift-filled jar as a fun surprise for mom or grandma. Like a gift basket, you can fill it with personalized items she'll enjoy as a thoughtful way to say Happy Mother's Day - plus we've got free Mother's Day gift tag printables for you!

You can make baskets/jars for all the special moms in your life. And long after the contents are used up, mom can use these cute storage jars year-round! My favorite jars for making these types of gifts are Anchor Hocking Heritage Jars from Walmart. They are well made, affordable and very handy for the home.

Large 2-gallon glass jars are only $14 at the store, but there are also smaller and medium-sized versions, such as the 1/2-gallon smaller jar pictured (about $6 at my store). Hip Tip: Home Goods and Target are also good places to check out jars, as is the Dollar Tree (for a great little mason jar gift).

Grab Some Jars, And Let’s Make A Cute Mother’s Day Gift With These Fun Ideas!

You can reuse beautiful glass you have at home, or check out your thrift store. Then just print the free Mother's Day gift tags on cardstock and attach them to the jar with ribbon or cotton. I've included tags in multiple sizes so you can use them on different jar sizes.

It's also worth noting that these tags would make a great gift topper or could double as tags for any other gift you're planning for Mother's Day! Print the gift tags onto card stock and punch a hole near the top of the tag you plan to use.

Tape the tag to the top of the jar. I filled a jar with all kinds of fun ways for mom to pamper herself, like different beauty and comfort products and things I know she'll enjoy! Another jar contains summer essentials such as a beach towel, sunglasses, flip flops and sunscreen.

Finally, the last jar contains a selection of beautiful nail polishes and accessories for the perfect manicure. I used gift basket filler in the bottom of each jar, but it's definitely optional. And don't forget the Mother's Day printable for an included gift tag! Hip Tip: Watch my assistant Emily do the perfect manicure using Kiss Nails!

Don’t Forget To Include A Little Mom-Mento!

So fun and personal I use Impress Nails all the time and love them. I love that you can personalize this gift for mom at different prices to fit your budget. I would also consider some priceless items like a child's drawing, a special small framed picture or a photo magnet.

Or even write the reasons you love your mom/grandma on pieces of paper, like we did with these DIY Kindness Jars! And if you've already gotten your mom a gift, you can still print out the Mother's Day printables and use them as your gift tags!

Lena Thx. This is such a cute idea.. my friend is recovering from surgery.. so I know she would love one of these.

You have great DIY ideas. Very simple too.. keep up the good work and may Allah bless you. I love this idea! Unfortunately, some people don't share the same ideas and enthusiasm for saving money and budgeting. I learned this the hard way. I have one family member who doesn't like it when I buy her a discount gift or buy a card from the dollar store (honestly, I don't know how she can tell) that she enjoys giving.

About The Writer:

I guess he doesn't think I love it until I spend full price so stop buying it. She will no longer be on my gift list. I'm sorry this is happening to you. I get the same feeling from some family members. I have a reputation as a weird curmudgeon at this point, but I ignore it.

I still go out of my way to think of them and buy them a gift that I think they will like. It doesn't matter how much I pay for it. Oh damn! It's a real shame. I love simple but thoughtful gifts. Dollar Tree cards are so cute these days!

Dennis, maybe you should not give this family member anything for a year and see how they like not getting anything. This sounds like teenage behavior! Being very frugal and a follower of H2S myself, all my friends/family felt like please don't give me anything against something I'll never use (unless I give it to Goodwill) and

Give the money that I will spend on me, account in pension. After almost 27 years of marriage, my spouse also realized, please don't give me anything - I just want time with you. And my children, they both realized, please don't give me/us anything as a gift...put that money into your retirement account.

So I don't consider myself ungrateful - just practical and realistic. A lot of people don't realize what they have/don't have financially. Log into your Social Security account to see how much you won't receive each month. Many people think SS should support/sustain them in retirement - News.

SS was always meant to be just a "supplement" to retirement. Not to take away from this post, these are all sweet ideas, but know your recipient too. I think it's an individual choice. Some of my friends don't really care about gifts. They really appreciate being thought of with just a card or note.

I try to listen to what people like, what they need or want, so that I can give them the right gift. I stopped expecting the same attention, so I just buy what I want. I don't think I sound ungrateful, I appreciate the thought.

But if you buy me clothes that are too small just because they were on sale, or someone's book that I don't really like, I don't feel special. I have a family that is the exact opposite...complain that I spent too much and accuse me of lying if I say it was less than $10.
