And we are all there for the same reason - to strengthen the mission of the church to make disciples. Like many, the church we visited gives something to every woman on Mother's Day. It has always been important for our communities to be sensitive to women who are pregnant, bereaved or separated from their children in sacred space.
We also know that women who are not biological mothers have spiritually mothered many of us. If the item is emblazoned with the word "mom," then non-moms or those who desperately want to be moms can get excited. I well remember the first year in our community when I was assigned to deliver something for Mother's Day.
I chose to stick with tradition and gave carnations to each woman we visited. However, in later years our team decided to be more intentional in spreading things that pointed our women to Christ. We didn't have a huge budget, so we spent most of the year with our eyes open, looking for sales and clearance items.

We try to keep the price fairly low because gifts for everyone can really stretch the budget, but as prices rise we have to come up with new ideas. 🙂 At a Mother's Day party last year, I ordered a box of clear frames from Dollar Tree - some had magnets to stick on the fridge, some had stands - and printed a verse to go inside, then at Dollar Tree I pasted the 3D stickers.
