Today, we're announcing some improvements to Meta Avatars that will help give you a new look this spring. We're adding some new avatar body shapes to help you express yourself better—especially if expressing yourself involves dancing to "Hops Don't Lie." We've also partnered with PUMA to bring seven outfits to the Meta Avatar store.
And we continue to make your avatar look good in small and subtle ways, because these details help highlight your personality. It really shines, as we add a little more sparkle to your eyes, brush some detail into your hair and make the clothes look more realistic and textured.
Shopping In The U.s.?
You'll see these changes when you use your avatar outside of virtual reality (VR). Everyone is different, and every body is different. For now, however, the body shape options available when creating your avatar are all the same. Maybe a small square. When we started this iteration of Avatars in 2021, we created them as a good jumping off point.

But, we heard the answer that not all of you can find yourself in the current options. That's why we add more options, it's very simple. Starting this month, you'll be able to choose from a variety of body shape options, including two body shapes.
We're tweaking some of our current options to help differentiate them as well. Self-expression and representation is important—it's what your avatar feels like—and we'll be adding more options over time, toward a future where anyone can create an avatar they like. Last year we introduced the Avatar Store, a one-stop shop for customizing your avatar across Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and VR.
Since inception, we've brought apparel to some of the world's leading fashion, sports and lifestyle brands - including Maddape, NBA, Prada and Thom Browne. Add PUMA to the list. We've partnered with the sportswear brand to feature seven lifestyle shots starting May 1. Finally, we've adjusted how your avatar's hair, clothes, and eyes look on stickers, profile pictures, cover photos, and more.

To save you from complete technical failure, we've added extra detail and realism to hair and clothes - meaning that if you're wearing clean clothes or bed and sweat, your avatar should look a little better than before. Hard light, right? We've also changed our lighting model to add a bit more reflective light to your eyes, brightening them up and bringing your character to life.
