The retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Sunday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Newark, New Jersey, with assets and liabilities estimated at $1 billion to $10 billion. Part of the process includes closing all 360 Bed Bath & Beyond locations and 120 Buybuy Baby retail stores.

The company has secured $240 million in financing to keep the stores operating during the liquidation process. "Thank you to all our loyal customers," it said in a statement on its website. "We have made the difficult decision to go out of business. Bed Bath & Beyond and buybuyBaby stores remain open to serve you. The liquidation sale is expected to take place immediately, although the exact date has not been announced
