It's a lot of fun to sample different styles of barbecue across the US and laugh with excitement at the debate over which is the best... We don't have a horse in that race, but let's just say the brisket down the road in Oklahoma is absolutely fantastic.

It's even better with the addition of The Sooner State's best barbecue sauce, like the one we found at the Tulsa store. It's actually made in Muskogee and the sauce is simply known as Jack's BBQ Sauce...it's the pride of owner Sharly Jackson McDaniel. Her father, Jack Jackson, taught Sharla the finer ways of barbecuing, and years later she developed and perfected the recipe for this great sauce.
It's a bit spicy but not too spicy and not too sweet. As a great barbecue sauce, it adds flavor to any meat it's added to - and this stuff is so good, you should put it on everything! We put some in a mild potato salad and livened it up right away!

We highly recommend this mix! It comes from Old Hammett Food Products in Sapulpa, OK and is called Old Hammett Chili Seasoning. Add the meat of your choice and a batch of spices (we like ground chuck) and you're rewarded with hearty, bold Oklahoma-style chili.
It is a spice that strengthens and brings happiness "after the light". We didn't feel the need to add hot sauce or other condiments and served it over chili mac style elbow noodles. Amazing! Also, check out the recipes on the Old Hammett website for other uses like enchilada sauce and chili party dip.
Outright winner from The Sooner State! You can buy it in two or ten ounce bags and a variety of plastic… Miller Pecan Company: Most people don't necessarily associate the Sooner State with pecan forests, but Oklahoma is an important part of America's southern pecan belt.
