Take home an item from the Nebraska Museum gift shop and take home a piece of Nebraska history and culture. In 1866 the Union Pacific laid out the town of North Platte, and in the fall of that year tracks were laid. Here you'll learn how the railroad grew and even have a chance to imagine the excitement of the arriving train as it pulls into the Brady Island Depot, built in the 1880s.
Throughout the year, the museum offers events that give visitors a chance to experience history firsthand. Eastern National offers a large selection of books on Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War, and American presidents. A large selection of children's books is also available. Eastern National gives back a percentage of its profits to be used to promote the National Park Service's historical, scientific and conservation activities. Eastern National membership gives you a 15 percent discount on merchandise and helps support National Park Service programs. Membership is $25.00 per year.
