That said, Ray the Castaway is a bit of an exception, as it didn't go through the usual 10,000 votes and ratings round process, leading the way in the should-you-want-to-win-the-beach Lego ideas contest. and maintain the overall look, with some minor tweaks. The manual is really good, and I like the portrait style manual. Here's a look at the finished model, which is a fascinating, tightly packed build for just over 200 parts. We have Rey, stranded on a deserted island, with a makeshift hut (or throne, depending on how you look at it), and various attempts to save her.
There's a small beach area, with a bottle (presumably with a message in it), and a very clever SOS breath made of dead gray eels and a yellow lifebuoy, saying . On the side is a small temporary raft matching the original design. Here's a look at the Rey the Castaway minifigure, with unruly hair and a sad expression.
I love her mismatched clothes and red shorts. Overall, I think this is a very charming GWP. There are lots of fun touches, and I love the fishing rod to keep Ray company, and the lots of sea life like starfish, eels (?), a crab, fish, and a parrot.
40566 Ray The Castaway Set Details
Unlike the original design no seagull, but the parrot works thematically. The design obviously pays homage to Tom Hanks' Castaway, but there's no volleyball, which wasn't even present in the original design. I'm not sure it was too crazy, but it shouldn't be too hard to add your own Wilson volleyball (especially if you draw one!) to the set to make it a true Tom Hanks tribute!
Ray the Castaway is a great GWP, and with so much to tempt you in October, I can see it on the easy side of redeeming. It helps if you don't have to think too much about what to buy to activate the purchase threshold.

In terms of design, I love how close they've stayed to the original DaddyTwin design, and how instantly recognizable it is. There are some nice techniques, like the palm trees, and how dense it is, which gives the small beach area a very lived-in survival atmosphere, which translates well.
All in all, a very unobtrusive and pleasant LEGO gift with purchase that many people can enjoy. Build [3] – A very good build for a real value of over 200 pieces [4] – Many October releases make for a good price because you'll probably get innovation at one end [2] – There's not much innovation

I'm looking at the castle, so maybe it's time to tie the knot and drop some cash. Don't forget to redeem the bonus VIP discount for the castle! It looks great and goes perfectly with the Pirates of the Barracuda Bay. I wonder what the AUD threshold would be, but I'm guessing around $200.
Such a shame they traded the seagull for the parrot. The seagull would be great to add to the motorized lighthouse.
