You'd be forgiven for thinking this was a gift given twice. Despite the label change, Jean-Luc Bondi continued his smooth streak, blasting out the same soft waves of progressive muzak (I wouldn't call it pro-jack if you didn't). The album is a fitting follow-up to The Gift of Time Fables, even if it suggests a personal preference that seems like an afterthought.
Kaleidoscopic sound patterns shift with purpose, the melodies are full of emotion and conviction, and the rhythm section is a palpable presence. Personally, I found Fables more refreshing, but The Gift of Time is a great album of complex computer integration. The two years between releases allowed Bondi to refine the lineup.

Whatever the reason, these songs sound like the result of meticulous tuning, humming like the windings of a sun-warmed Swiss watch. Bondi is careful not to lose sight of the human element, an aspect sometimes obscured by his early love affair with electronic music. "Believe in yourself," for example, establishes an emotional connection with the listener.
The rest of the record is less impressive, exploring mathematical options with ambient tones on "Transfiguration" or "Inner Feelings." To be honest, much of Bondi's music reminds me of Jean-Michel Jarre; electronic music with a human touch and an ear for beautiful melodies. Maybe it's a hyphen.
