Visitors walk along the 427-meter (1,400-foot) long boardwalk and observe the animals in their large, open habitats. As you enter the Africa Loop, you'll see displays of Greater Flamingos, Aldabra Tortoises and Warthogs. Next you will see the bongo display in the center of the loop around the grounds.
The leopard exhibit is 91 meters (300 ft) long, 15 meters (50 ft) wide and houses a male leopard. Next, you will see the white rhinoceros, great kudu, marabou stork, East African crowned crane and ostrich, which inhabit the 2.5 acre area. Inside the Africa Loop, Elephant Plaza offers an intimate look at the elephants and their 275,000-gallon swimming pool.

From above, you can see two female African elephants and one male. In the same area, visitors can also see the African Reptile Building, which is home to some of the world's deadliest snakes. The last part of this huge loop is the one-acre home of the lion.
The African Forest at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is a great place to see the great apes closer than ever. Visitors marvel at the 12-meter (40-foot) tall kapok tree, which serves as the heart and center of the exhibit. The interior of the tree trunk is accessible by ladders for keepers to study and care for the animals.

In African forest, you will see animals like bonobo, Angolan colobus, colobus gureza, western lowland gorilla etc. As the name suggests, the Australian Adventure exhibit showcases animals from Down Under. Animals of this South Pacific attraction include cassowary, emu, laughing kookaburra, lorikeets etc. Visitors stroll on this elevated viewing platform and come face-to-face with giraffes.
From the all-weather boardwalk, visitors can watch giraffes roam and graze freely in the 2.5-acre exhibit. Besides the giraffes, the spectacular views of the African savannah make it worthwhile. On the Asian circuit, visitors will see a Komodo dragon display before arriving at the award-winning Land of the Tiger.
Here, Malayan and Sumatran tigers are free to roam the area through an innovative trail system. The best part about the Jacksonville Zoo Land of the Tigers is that visitors can see the tigers from almost anywhere in this 2.5-acre exhibit. Apart from tigers, you also see North Sulawesi Babirusa, Collared Hornbill, Rhinoceros Hornbill, Asian Small-clod Otter etc.

The play park has a 2.5 acre children's play area beyond the range of jaguars and wildlife carousel. Kids can find their way through two mazes, then climb, jump and get wet on the splash ground. They can also mimic squirrel monkeys by climbing vines in front of animals.
How Long Does Jacksonville Zoo Take
Children's favorites include the treehouse, rock wall, forest play area and penguin tunnel window in the play park. Kids who want to get up close and personal with animals can brush West African pygmy and Nigerian pygmy goats in the animal care area. Range of the Jaguar is a South American exhibit with a Palm Plaza restaurant and Village Sweet Shop.
Explore the winding halls of the fascinating Lost Temple and see wild snakes, poisonous dart frogs, anacondas, vampire bats, Utila spiny-tailed iguanas, and more. After coexistence you must experience the Emerald Forest Aviary to see some of the best birds in the world. At the aviary, look out for the arapaima, the largest freshwater fish, which can reach 4.6 meters in length.
The River Valley Aviary is a two-storied enclosure covering 9,000 square feet and is home to exotic birds. Free-flying birds include yellow-billed stork, Abdim stork, African spoonbill, white-bellied little bustard, turacos etc. Kids love this interactive exhibit where they can pet and feed stingrays. Some of the sea creatures that you can see here are Atlantic Guitarfish, Atlantic Stingray, Bluntnose Stingray, Cownose Stingray, Southern Stingray etc.
