He is best known for playing Brendan Fletcher in the HBO miniseries Mrs Fletcher. Other titles White's appeared in include Center in 2009 and Ambulance in 2022. Before discovering his passion for acting, White's passion was music. "I'm going to be a drummer and that's going to be my job," he said.
But even though they were doing musicals in high school, it wasn't long before they graduated that was what they were interested in. "I took the other road," White admitted. "I had to go to college and I realized I wanted discipline ... something organized that I had to be responsible for."
He adds, "Practice is what makes me do it." White attended the University of Southern California and studied music. He spent a year there before realizing that college wasn't for him. “I’m the mayor and I hate it,” White told PEOPLE. "I've been really confused and everywhere, I'm taking regular classes. I think I'm still playing. I'm ready to go before I start."

Emma Roberts is the executive producer of Tell Me Lies, a collaboration that White describes as "a dream" because it's "kind of a big wireless." Of Roberts, he raves: "He's really good. He's great. Before Tell Me Lies premiered on Hulu, showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer talked about the writing process that made Stephen more likable. "We have to make him more human just for the show because this is the hope of the ongoing series.
