Horne put $100 on each card and gave them as Christmas gifts, but by the time her sons and daughters tried to use them, the money was gone. This documentation of a gift card purchase by Carolyn Horn at Hardee's was prepared by a Walmart manager.
He then discovered that the three $100 cards were worthless until the gift recipients tried to use them. Carolyn Horn was holiday shopping in December when she stopped at the Walmart on US 460 in Bonesack. There, Hardy's grandmother purchased three Walmart-branded Visa gift cards using a Visa credit card issued by Wells Fargo Bank and loaded $100 on each.
According to the service fee per card, the total transaction was $316.32. Later, for Christmas, Horn gave one card to his son, another to his daughter, and a third to his stepdaughter. The card, which had a Walmart logo on the front, remained unused until Feb. 4, when Horn's son tried to use the gift card to pay for a meal at a local restaurant.

Visa declined the transaction because the card balance was 5 cents instead of $100. After realizing the card was no good, Horne called her daughter and stepdaughter to warn them that something could happen to their unused gift cards, too. Those concerns were borne out.

When each woman checked the balance, she found that the balance was zero. Further investigation by Horne and Visa revealed a $99.95 transaction on Horne's son's card on Jan. 23 at a Harris Teeter store in Charlotte, North Carolina. On the same date, two other cards were charged with $100 balances at a Milk Food in North Carolina.
Now, Horne is trying to get her money back, but Horne hasn't contacted the Visa gift card that Walmart advised her to refund. A Horns Wells Fargo branch manager - who had issued him a Visa credit card - gave him the same advice. Horn, 72, said he made "seven or eight" visits to the Bonesack Walmart trying to fix the problem.
A manager there gave him three different Walmart phone numbers to call. Horne said Walmart personnel at one number referred her to another number that no one answered. And no one answered the other numbers at Walmart that Bonesack's manager gave him. Horn identified the manager who had given him the phone numbers as Kevin Dixton.
He also reported the scam to the police.) So far, no one has been able to reconnect Horn with the $316.32. So last week, he really turned on you. He sent me pictures of counterfeit cards, pictures of Walmart receipts, etc. But so far I have not received much help from Horn.
