A Cleric With This Feat Can Cast Cure Wounds Using Spell Slots Without Preparing It.

The description of the Gift of the Metal Dragon feat in Fizban's Treasury of Dragons sourcebook says in part (my emphasis): Draconic Healing. You learn the healing wounds spell. You can cast this spell without using a spell slot.
Once you cast this spell this way, you cannot cast it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast this spell using spell slots you have. [...] As a cleric with this feat, does that last sentence mean I don't need to prepare healing wounds to my spell list, effectively giving me an extra ready phase?

You have made the right comment. The text of the feat is unambiguous: You can also cast this spell using spells you have. The business creates an exception for the priest. Normally, a cleric must prepare spells in order to cast them. But the general rule for specific strokes tells us: Remember this: If a specific rule conflicts with a general rule, the specific rule wins.

So like my review of Folk of the Feywild UA, I'll be looking at this one. And you get my impressions and thoughts about the new stuff. As the name suggests, this Discovered Arcana is about dragons. There are some neat things in it like introducing the idea of gem dragons.
Now, rumors of game dragons returning to Dungeons & Dragons have been swirling for a few years. So this AU adds fuel to that fire. It's all about the players this time. So let's start with a quick review and first impression of what's included in Draconic Options.

So the newest Discovered Arcana coming out is called Draconic Options. As the name suggests, this AU features new player character settings based on the iconic D&D dragons. Unfortunately, there isn't much for Dungeon Masters. At least not specifically. As a DM, I love having new player options.
Chromatic Dragonborn
Because it means I can customize my non-player characters with the new stuff. And the new Draconic Options give everyone at the table some pretty cool stuff to play with. That said, there is a bit of power creep that I'm a little wary of.
But luckily it's not that bad. …Well, except for a few of those feel-good spells. Overall, I really like this new Arcana Unearthed. I feel like the changes they made (mostly splitting the Dragonborn into separate lineages) were fun updates for players. With that out of the way, let's dive into the meat of this AU: the new dragonborn options.
dragonborn 5e gets a bit of an update in this Arcana Unearthed. So far they have not had an underrun. While it could be argued that the possibilities of what kind of dragon you claimed to be descended from could qualify as a sub-race, that's not really the case.
We get three new lineage options for DnD 5e dragon birth, one for each parent type: Chromatic, Metallic, and Gem. Biggi is the last. But we'll get to that later. Dragonborn still have their signature breath weapon (it's still sub-optimal in terms of economy of action) which uses your attack action.
