How Are My Donations Used?

The Vision, Hearing and Denture Donation Program provides glasses, hearing aids and dentures to qualified individuals who cannot afford them (age 50+ for vision and hearing and 60+ for dentures). Professional services are donated to ophthalmologists, optometrists, audiologists, dentists and dental laboratories, reducing costs. The program carefully screens applicants to determine need, arranges for vision, hearing and denture screenings and fills prescriptions for glasses, provides hearing aids and pays for dentures.

(The denture program does not provide for any other types of dental services such as cleanings, extractions, fillings, or other types of restorative work. The applicant must be prepared for dentures when applying for of the program.) The program allows elderly Knox County residents who cannot pay the full cost of glasses, hearing aids or dentures to recoup the cost as much as they can.

Glasses, hearing aids, and dentures are not traditionally covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or supplemental insurance.
