Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, we serve as a vital link between individuals and families who make the generous decision to donate organs and tissues, and those in need of a transplant. We provide compassionate assistance to donors, transplant recipients, and their families, and work hard to educate the public about the need for donor registration.
Gift of Life is part of the national network of organ and tissue sharing operated by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). We are proud to continue to increase the number of people who benefit from organ donation. Since our founding in 1974, we have coordinated more than 58,000 organ transplants and more than 2 million tissue transplants.

The key to our success is making sure we have a team that pulls together. We work with 126 acute care hospitals and 13 transplant centers to maximize donation opportunities. We partner with hospitals to provide the educational and clinical services needed to recover, prepare and transport organs and tissues for those awaiting transplant.
We support grieving families throughout the organ and tissue donation process. This includes services provided in the hospital as well as post-operative care programs through our Home Support Counselors. Our contributions to the transplant community include the Gift of Life Howie's House, which provides affordable housing, meals and support services to those traveling to Philadelphia for transplant-related treatment.

Our authority and expertise in organ and tissue donation is recognized globally. The Gift of Life Institute, an affiliate of The Gift of Life, is an international leader in organ and tissue donation training. Since 2004, he has trained more than 13,400 professionals from 33 countries.

Increased public awareness has allowed us to continually increase the number of organs available for transplant. Our public relations team conducts outreach and education programs to raise awareness of the dire need for organ and tissue donors.
