Gift Of Exhortation - Have you heard about the gift of preaching? How can you tell if you have it? What are the evidence of this gift? I love the three things I call "Three E Migos". These are the three things that every believer should do for others.

Gift Of Exhortation

Correcting others, encouraging others, and admonishing others. Our focus here is on the gift of exhorting, but what does the word exhorting mean? The word admonishment and the act of admonishment mean to exhort, encourage, cheer, admonish, and encourage. Romans 12:8 mentions the gift of exhorting because it says "He that exhorts, in his exhorting."

The word encouragement is a verb... it is the action or act of encouraging, encouraging, advising, or cheering someone or something else that needs it. It is an action based word. It is also a gift of the spirit and since we know that everyone has one gift and maybe more than one, there are those in the church who have the gift of encouragement and their work in building the church is to encourage individual members.

Community or doing it collectively. The Greek word used for encouragement is "paraklesis" and by its Greek definition, we can see that there is a severe need in the church. Paraklésis means to call to one's side, to "ask" or "ask," and "to invite." Another name for the Holy Spirit that is very close to "Paraklesis" is "Paraklete" or "Parakletos" in Greek and means "called to one another" or "called to one another" because that is what the Spirit is.

Do it for us. He comes to us and helps to bring the Scriptures to mind and gives us the ability to understand the Bible, so what is the advice for other believers, the Holy Spirit is for us (although the Holy Spirit is very helpful).

God gives gifts of the Spirit for the benefit of the church, not for individual benefit. Paul uses the word encouragement in a way that fits the definition of the word. He writes to Timothy "Until I come, devote yourself to reading the gospel, encouraging, teaching" (1 Tim 4:13).

Paul told the church in Rome that "I also convince you, my brothers, that you also are full of goodness, full of knowledge, able to encourage one another" (Rom 15:14). Paul says in Acts 20:31 "Therefore be sober, remember that for three years I did not show everyone day and night with tears."

Paul also writes, "Brothers, we ask you to honor those who work among you and are superior to you in the Lord and warn you, and with love because of their work. Respect them. Be at peace among yourselves. And we ask you . ., brothers, warn the idle, encourage the weak-hearted, help the weak, be patient with them all" (1 Thess 5:12-14).

The Three E-Migos

If you have the gift of preaching, you will join or invite your brothers and sisters in Christ and ask them, you will respect them more, you will always encourage them, you will encourage them when needed, give them advice, you will be encouraged .

Continue them through tribulation, and you will rejoice in the prize of the high calling in Christ. If you do most or all of these things for the body of Christ, you probably have the gift of encouragement. There are more Christians today against each other over unnecessary doctrines than I have ever seen in my life.

Instead of building each other up, they tear each other down. I've heard that for many Christians, the only exercise they get is jumping to conclusions, tearing others down, and turning others down. This is exactly why we need this gift in the body of Christ.

Remember that gifts are to help strengthen the church, not the individual. God gives gifts of the Spirit for the benefit of the church, not for individual benefit. Today, maybe I have taught you something about the gift of exhorting and even if you do not have the gift of the spirit you can still exhort others inside the church and outside the church.

Greek Meaning Of Exhortation

We need to encourage, encourage, develop, respect, and ultimately teach each other. We need one another in the church. I read that there are about a hundred "ones" in the Bible. This shows the critical importance of each member of the body and that each one is important for the body of Christ to function effectively and efficiently. Examine your actions.

Do you have the gift of counsel? If not, counsel others. Try to be the glue that holds the church together, not the scissors where everyone cuts the ribbons. Today, more than ever, we need this gift in the church. What is yours? Gift? Are you using it? I pray that you are for the church and the glory of God. What Exhortation Looks Like

Be the one." - Augustine A few years ago I ministered to the families of one of the most dynamic leaders in the country, G. Allen Patterson. I went to listen to him. He told this true but heartbreaking story. The best couple Working in marriage enrichment, who wrote 5 books that were very helpful, and gave seminars all over the country, suddenly got divorced, he was so surprised that he flew to the city where they lived and called it

His home, his wife thanked him for coming. And she shared, she explained how she and her husband were so busy trying to ruin other people's marriages that they lost their own eyes. They had all the answers, but they forgot the most important part, which was to do what they already knew.

This is why the body of Christ needs the gift of encouragement. It is never enough to know. We also need to be encouraged to do it, and this is the duty of those who have the gift. The teacher shows us the way, but the exhorter John the Baptist is the first person in the New Testament to demonstrate this gift.

Luke 3:18 says, "And with many other words of counsel he gave the people a good understanding." John not only told people the good news of the coming Messiah, but also called them to actions and said something about him, which was to repent, anoint and live a life pleasing to God.
