Gift Of Discernment And Empathy
Gift Of Discernment And Empathy - A few years ago, a business coach labeled me an empath. WHAT? Oh no! I don't do woo-woo things. No magic or anything. I don't deal with spirits or voodoo! I'm laughing now because I did what I always do, I got curious and started researching it on good old Google.

What the Bible Says About the Gift of Discernment (From Precursor's Commentary) Matthew 10:16 Christ's command to us to be "shrewd as serpents and harmless as doves" indicates that we must have discernment , ability, motivation and motivating spirits to understand. . The ability to discern spirits will become even more important as we approach the end of this age, as deception will be the hallmark of these very dangerous times.
Where Is The Spiritual Gift Of Discernment Mentioned In The Bible?
In the prophecy of the Mount of Olives, the disciples asked Jesus to reveal the sign of his return. Jesus did not give one sign, but many. At the top of the list, He warned the disciples against deception, followed by warnings about false prophets, false miracles, and a warning not to be deceived (see Matthew 24:4–5, 11, 23
–26). We conclude from this last warning that false "Christian" preachers and ministries will have the ability to perform convincing false miracles and signs. These false preachers will manifest power - occult power - to mislead all people, including the most faithful of believers. We have a clear warning from the Apostle Paul that the battles we face every day cannot be overcome with conventional weapons that we can get from the world.

of such sins. Having unrepentant sinners in the congregation only causes anger and division, as they did in the incident he wrote about earlier in this chapter. But what about grace, mercy and patience? What is the manifestation of God's love? Some may ask, "What is wrong with Paul? Does he not understand that we live under grace? Does he not understand that we should all live together and be tolerant of one another? Does he not know
that he will teach and trouble the church? Isn't that what is happening in the world as we speak?" In 2 Thessalonians 3:6, 14 the apostle gives the same advice: But we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you stay away from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition
he received from us. . . . And if anyone disobeys our word in this letter, consider that person and do not associate with him so that he will not be ashamed. Some may think, "Paul must stop ! He will destroy the church!” But that's exactly the opposite of what he's trying to do.

He urges the members of the Church to use the gift of discernment to pull out the weeds—call them weeds, if you will—from them so that the peaceful environment that follows will produce the good fruits of goodness (see James 3:18). Remember that God gives the gifts of his spirit—including understanding—for the improvement and growth of the body (1 Corinthians 12:7).
How Do I Pray For The Spirit Of Discernment?
In fact, what Paul commanded the Corinthians and Thessalonians to do was an expression of divine love. The advice of Timothy and Titus to guard the truth is in the same category. It was no less cruel than what many soldiers did to guards who fell asleep on guard duty!
The principle is the same - remove those who show dereliction of duty - but disfellowshipping is kinder and more psychologically effective. Furthermore, Paul advises that this seemingly harsh treatment has a beneficial effect: to shame the outcast and move him to repentance—to a restored relationship with God.
Isn't that what God wants everyone to do, repent and turn to Him? Paul advises in 2 Thessalonians 3:15: "Nevertheless, do not regard him as an enemy, but exhort him [admonish, warn, and rebuke, if necessary, in love] as a brother." Finally, the excommunication became a brother.
a loving corrective measure, not a punitive one. Paul pours himself out, admonishing, warning, and even rebuking the brothers, begging them to use discernment and, if necessary, judge to keep the spirit of the world away from the church. In these times, the need is more urgent.
