Gift For Dance Teacher
No, it is not mandatory. I actually had one instructor tell me that they never got a year-end gift (gasp)! However, many students/families give their coach a little something to show their appreciation and love after spending the year together! I am in about 47 Dancing Mom Facebook groups.
This is a question I've been asked a lot lately! I asked seven of our studio's best instructors to give us their wildest version of the perfect student/family gift. In Eastern Washington we have no shortage of coffee companies to choose from. Starbucks, Dutch Bros, Roasters, etc.
If you know your mentors favorite coffee stand, buy them a $5 or $10 gift card. If you don't know a favorite, just pick one and I'm sure it will be appreciated no matter what! And coffee makes sense! Teachers spend countless hours outside of the classroom creating music, curriculum, and choreography.

Dance Recital Gift Season Is Upon Us!
This is in addition to the time spent in the classroom with your children and some others. I only have 2 kids and they exhaust me. Most of our teachers have children of their own. They are also tired. Give them coffee Almost every guide I asked responded with this (besides coffee...).
A short, simple and personal thank you letter and hug. These coaches know your kids. They laugh with them and face challenges with them and they care about them. Just "hey, we love you so much and appreciate everything this year" means a TON. You can include a photo of your dancer with the instructor so that they will remember it for a lifetime.
You can include a $5 coffee gift card. Flower just give the card alone with the invalid signature of your 3 year old baby ballerina. No matter what happens, it will be preserved. Do you feel like you buy a lot of dance clothes and dance shoes?
So are your guides! Any guide would love a hug and a thank you and expect nothing more, but if you're struggling with the idea of buying something, it's a safe bet! Discount Dance, Dancewear Solutions etc. "Hey, it's $10 for a new pair of ballet shoes" will put a smile on their face.

But What To Get Them?!
Practicality goes a long way. A gift card to a dancewear or equipment company helps in situations where you are not sure what they want or need. Dance teachers are usually full of life and personality, at least we all are. Goofy socks, sparkly cups, a bunch of cake pops (by the way, all these items were taken directly from our guides 😉) something small and handmade like a picture.
Remember - your coach will love that you took the time to think of them and do something special for them. It doesn't have to be expensive or extravagant. It doesn't have to be Pinterest or storefront appropriate. I know its cliché... but I'm quoting directly from a mentor here and the most important thing to remember at the end of the day is... just a small gesture will show your mentor that you love and appreciate them and that you thought of them.

I love that you went straight to the dance teacher! It's easy to overthink gift giving, but it helps to remind us that a thoughtful gift is always appreciated! What fun ideas! I used to teach dance and never got a gift for the year.

I thought nothing of it, but any of these would definitely make my day!! My daughter has her first dance recital this weekend. She will be 4 at the end of the month. Her teacher gets me Starbucks. I was looking for small gift ideas, so thanks for this great timely post, ha!
