Gift Exchange Poem
I've only played the game two or three times so I haven't written my song yet. It's a really fun game though, so I thought it was about time! And you know I love rhymes, or you should if you've seen any of these scavenger hunt ideas!
I created two Christmas toys left over from two of my favorite things - movies and Disney! One is for adults (Sarah meets Mr. Right) and the other is more suitable for children following the story of Mickey and his minions. The left-right Christmas gift exchange is something I've seen at many parties and hear about more and more every year.
It's a simple and great way to give gifts in a fun way. Like Saran Wrap and Christmas Bingo, this is something of a holiday tradition and something I've seen people play over and over again, year after year. Some songs are about Santa and his round belly, some are about a jolly old elf who works for St. Nick, and some - like this one - are Christmas-themed, not Christmas-themed.
What Is A Left Right Gift Exchange?
Left Right Christmas is ideal for exchanging gifts with large groups as it lasts a fixed amount of time versus a time that varies depending on the number of players. The game actually consists of everyone bringing a wrapped gift, everyone sitting in a circle, and everyone passing the gift turns left or right as someone reads (or writes) the words "left" or "right" in the poem.

Poems or stories are specially written with many rights and such rights. So first start by having everyone sit in a big circle. Then hand out the wrapped gifts to everyone. And then you're ready to start the gift-giving game! Read the story slowly, making sure to emphasize when you say the word right and the word left.
Word signs really help people - you and people are giving each other gifts left and right! Then at the end of the song (or at the end of the story) everyone opens the gift in their hands. I highly recommend that you tell people to bring white elephant gifts or unisex gifts that everyone would like, as this is really good luck for them!
Or you can just give regular gift exchange gifts if you want everyone to get something good and keep the white elephant for the actual white elephant gift exchange! If you want something a little less card-happy, try my gift-exchange card game! It can be quite interesting to watch, especially if the person is reading the story fairly quickly and there are a lot of rights and rights in the story!
What Is A Left Right Gift Exchange?
And when I say story, it can be a story or a poem or something else. I chose a poem because I love rhymes! If you like rhyming games, check it out right now! Creating your own story can also be a lot of fun, but if you're doing it at the last minute or just can't come up with a great story yourself, you can download it below!
Both songs follow the same pattern - a story that tells a lot of left and right words. The first is more adult-friendly, as he accompanies the woman all day when she meets Mr. Right. The second one is definitely more kid-friendly as it accompanies Mickey Mouse and his friends as they go shopping for Christmas presents.

Each one is suitable for any size and age group, you just need to choose the one that suits you best. This Christmas song about exchanging gifts is inspired by all the great Hallmark movies where Girl Meets Mr. Right. After watching all kinds of movies last week, I kind of wrote the same story.
Here's a sneak peek! You can get the instant download at the bottom of this post! The second game revolves around the story of Mickey Mouse, who tries to choose the perfect gifts for his friends. If you love Disney or mostly play with kids, this is the story for you!
How Do You Play The Left Right Christmas Game?
Note that I told a story - unlike the story above, this one is a story, not a poem. It still plays the same way, it just doesn't ring. If you'd rather make all the gifts for this game than bring them yourself, this is good for things like chocolates, Christmas decorations, or we've even done it with books for a year's class party!
I like to do things of the same kind but different kinds. To play the left and right Christmas game, have everyone sit in a large circle and start with a wrapped present. Then someone reads a poem or story with the words "left" and "right" many times.
When the reader says left, everyone passes their gifts to the left. When the reader says right, everyone transfers their talents correctly. When the story is over, everyone opens their gifts and keeps what they opened. If everyone brings their own gifts in this holiday gift exchange game, make sure everyone knows what the theme and price limit is.

If you are making all the gifts yourself, I recommend making the same type of gifts but in different forms. For example, soft socks, chocolates, cups or even board games. (If you need some recommendations, these are the best board games for kids.) If you're doing a secret Santa gift exchange where people choose a gift for a specific person, I don't recommend this simple game.
