Here are his top tips. Every good gift basket should have a purpose. It may be related to a special holiday or special occasion, but it can also be a "just because" theme. "If I want to do something for a friend, other than their birthday or Christmas, I think - what would they like to do?"

Feel free to be creative! Once you have a theme, you'll want to set a budget. (Otherwise, it's super easy!) And remember, you don't have to spend a fortune to create a heartfelt gift basket, especially if you shop at a budget store like Marshall's or Target.

Homemade crafts and food gifts are also important. It's time to hit the stores! Choose 5-15 items (depending on cart size) that match your theme. “Make a beautiful package… think of all the little things that can fill the void,” says Stephanie. And don't forget the most important thing: the basket!
Make the basket something you can actually use," says Stephanie. "Finding a useful basket is a better way to spend money." Some of our favorite containers are bags, backpacks and boxes. After you've selected all the good ones, it's time to arrange them in an attractive way.

Start with the heaviest items at the bottom or near the back of the basket, and work your way up. You can use bent paper to add volume: "It takes up space and it's beautiful," says Stephanie. Or choose a functional filler. "Try socks, dresses, beach towels, towels — things you can use to collect but also use," she advises.
