INDIANAPOLIS — As WRTV returns for its 72nd year, it's teamed up with a Christmas gift and entertainment show. After taking 2020 off due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the decades-old event returned to the Indiana State Fair on Wednesday.
The 2021 Christmas Gift and Hobby Show runs through Sunday and features more than 300 domestic and international exhibitors, including 100 new ones. Exhibits at the Holiday Marketplace include local artists selling their work, holiday displays, live entertainment, a mailbox delivering gift lists directly to Santa Claus, Santa himself and more.

In the 1946 film "It's a Wonderful Life," audiences will have the chance to see Carolyn Grimes as Juju Bailey. But this time, Grimes has released a trailer for her newly revised cookbook, which fans can purchase with an autograph. A new feature of the show is the North Pole Express miniature train.

But it is a good food for children. This year, the Christmas Gift and Hobby Fair will feature a table with books from more than 20 local authors of nearly every genre. Event organizers told WRTV that the event was perfect for holiday decorating, special gift shopping and getting out of the house during the last 15 months of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It's a great place to buy all your Christmas gifts, and not have to worry about shipping or anything along these lines," said show manager Laura Groninger. "It's a complete experience at the show. So, bring your friends, bring your kids - come and see Santa - it's a lot of fun at the show."
Groninger, who has been at the event for the past 10 years, said he's seen enthusiasm from people he's never seen before. "People are happy to be back and have a sense of 'normal' again," Groninger said. Tickets are $13 and performances are the rest of the weekend - Friday and Saturday from 10am to 9pm.
