I always want my gifts to be thoughtful and personalized for the recipient. Believe it or not, there are people like you and me who don't like junk, rust, metal, vintage, and second-hand stuff. So today I want to share how I put together inexpensive gift baskets and fun candy dishes with Dollar Tree items.
I collected three gift baskets with different themes. One of the gift baskets is a treat for nursing home residents, one gift basket is for the creative crafter and one gift basket is for someone who loves pedicures. I don't know about you but there is something about gift baskets.
I love when I receive a gift basket. It's really fun to find stuff in it. When you look at these ideas, think about the next gifting opportunity you have and how to customize a basket for the recipient. Remember that this basket is only to give you an idea.

You can customize a gift basket for your child's teacher, your neighbor, the postman (or lady), your grandson, etc. The Dollar Tree is filled with practical items as well as pretty items that easily make a gift basket unique. The first thing you need to make a basket is…..any basket.

Or you can put your things in a bag. You can find lots of cool bags as well as great gift bags. Consider what you can put in your basket and choose the size accordingly. Or another idea is to collect all the items you want to put in a basket and then choose a basket.
There are lots of things you can use as "baskets". Some ideas; Plant pots, metal pails, dish drainers, baskets (!), large plastic bowls, tote bags, children's sand pails, gift bags, Chinese food containers, etc. Be creative. This is a basket for residents of nursing homes.
I chose a large pink plastic basket with a handle. Baskets are especially useful because you can store a lot of things in small containers like toiletries, snacks and photos. I bought some snacks, lotion, hand cream, nail polish, room freshener, chapstick, unlimited scarves, wall hanging (thanks for being you), handheld mirror with pocket mirror, and lee for fun!

The total cost of this gift basket is $13 plus tax. I put everything in the basket and rearrange it. I'm not happy. Since the basket is deep, everything is placed at the bottom of the basket. I got packing paper at the store and put it in the bottom of the basket.
You can also use shredded paper. Not sure what to call it but you need something to pull off the gift basket as a liner. Use cloth napkins, scarves, shop towels, washcloths, etc. to cover the bottom and sides of the basket. It adds tenderness and gives gifts something to wrap around.

I put the infinity scarf on the paper. Isn't the design beautiful?? I am always amazed by the things I find at Dollar Tree. (This is not a sponsored post) Start with the larger items and lean them to one side of the basket or stack them from the bottom.

I occasionally indulge myself with pedicures. How are you guys? In this case I used Lee to soften the look of the gift basket. You should always add items with designs to your cart. I chose a turquoise green catcher container for this gift basket.
I bought flip flops, 2 bottles of nail polish, nail brush, mini ped egg, manicure set, fun scented candles and a bright lei. Who doesn't love this basket? It helps to use a specific color scheme when selecting your items. Nine items including the basket is $9 plus tax.
Look how cheap this basket is. It's perfect for friends, teens, etc. The perfect birthday gift basket. The third gift basket is for artisans. I found a cute box container with a top to use as a basket. Floral designs of all colors are calling my name.

You can choose from a variety of small decorative plates or containers and a variety of candies for your special project. I have some funny stories about how many trips to the Dollar Tree it takes to find a llama and how much candy is in a bag of peanut butter cups.
Read more…. We know a lot of nursing home residents and I really wanted to give them something for the holidays. We made filled coffee cups for all the staff a few years ago (see here) and they had great success. At least let them know we appreciate them.
Last week I went to Dollar Tree to see what they had. I didn't have a gift plan so that's when I saw this ring holder. The white panels of golden llamas, unicorns, whale tails and dinosaurs are so beautiful. I see they are full of candy.
