In 1992, rumors spread that the character of Aladdin could be heard as "cute teenagers taking off your clothes," and in 1996 rumors spread that the word "Sex" was written into the stars in "The Lion King." These rumors were often hoaxes or examples of pareidolia, where people interpret images from unusual patterns.
In other words, some male forms may be in the eye of the beholder. In the spring of 2022, amid right-wing attacks on Disney after the company challenged Florida's so-called "Don't Talk Gay Bill," a new attempt was made to defame Disney when social media users shared a photo of a Disney gift card they claimed contained a hidden pen.
Although the image above shows a real gift card (albeit an old one), whether or not the mouse is hidden in Minnie's dress is a matter of interpretation. Most of the media outlets said this was a "new" Disney gift card, but it doesn't appear to be a circulating card.
Was This Card Released In 2022?
The card appears to have been released around 2015 when it was available through retailers like Target. While some internet users noticed that Minnie's outfit was similar to the member's style at the time, there was no widespread outrage over the image. We checked several major retailers (ShopDisney.com, Target.com, and Walmart.com) but could not find any offering this gift card yet.

When we ran a reverse image search on some of the viral gift card photos, we traced those images back to 2015. In other words, it looks like someone found an old gift card image and repurposed it to make money off of it. the new found anger at Disney.
We reached out to Target to find out when the gift card was last offered and will update this article if more information becomes available. Currently, the retailer offers a similar gift card. Although there is no hidden pen in this design (that we can see), there is some mouse-on-mouse love: Disney has been the subject of a smear campaign since CEO Bob Chapek announced in March 2022 that the company would oppose Florida's so-called "Don't say Gay" bill.
Since then, low-profile media outlets have falsely reported that Chapek was arrested for sex trafficking, and veteran journalists such as Tucker Carlson have claimed that Disney has a "sex program... for children". Carlson said: "They have a sex program for 6-year-olds... You would think it's illegal in some way. It's really immoral. It's scary as hell. And yet they're the leading provider of children's programming in the country".
