Some of those discounts are cruise gift cards that offer great deals. Here the cards receive a discount of 10% of the face value. Considering the cost of a cruise, it can save you hundreds of dollars. At the time of this article, there are five different cruise lines with gift cards available through AARP.
Available lines include: Combined, these lines represent over 100 cruise ships offering voyages anywhere in the world. In other words, if you want to sail to the Caribbean or Australia, the Mediterranean or Alaska, you can do so while saving money. At the time of this writing, every cruise line on the AARP deals list offered two card categories: $100 and $500.
Each card is offered with a 10% discount. So $100 gift cards sell for $90 through AARP and $500 cards sell for $450. So if you're shopping for a $2,500 cruise, you can buy these five cards for $2,250, saving $250 on your purchase. Of the five different cruise lines that have gift cards on the AARP website, three of them — Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity — specifically state that they are "members only."
