The sculpture in the collection influences the interior galleries and the exterior walkways. Education is at the heart of Crystal Bridges' mission. The museum offers year-round programming for all ages, including lectures, art-making workshops, films, gallery talks and special events. The award-winning free app from iTunes features audio tours of current and past temporary exhibitions, and many of the Museum's talks and lectures are featured on Crystal Bridges' iTunes U website, which also features interviews with curators, artists and curators.
Additionally, Crystal Bridges offers teacher professional development and educational programs for K-12 school groups designed to align with Common Core standards. Located at the foot of a natural lake in the heart of the Ozark Forest, the Crystal Bridges were designed by architect Moshe Safdie to be both a support and a counterpoint to the surrounding landscape.
Instead of building on the edge of the bank, overlooking the stream below, Safdie chose to let the landscape embrace the building and make the spring water part of it, essential to the design. Two ponds are created by a series of breakwaters that regulate the inflow from Town Branch Creek and nearby Crystal Spring.

This natural spring, along with the amazing glass and copper bridges that cross the ponds, gave the name Crystal Bridges. The paths and grounds of the Crystal Bridges are an integral part of the museum experience. More than 3.5 miles of trails wind through the Museum's 120-acre site, giving guests access to the beautiful Ozark landscape.
Designed to inspire the imagination, the trails help guests make connections with the land and its history, as well as enjoy outdoor artwork. The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art features some of the most unique and elegant event centers in the area, offering facilities for a wide variety of events.
