It's something Karen Davis has worked hard to maintain over the years since taking ownership in 2002. Coon's was originally established as a jewelry store in 1953 by founding owner Arthur Coon. Over the past sixty years, it has moved several times across town, growing each time to become the eclectic gift shop it is today.

Coon's is home to Penelope's Pet Boutique, which opened in 2014 and offers Salem a variety of pet clothing, gifts, toys and locally sourced food. Karen has been in sales all her life, working for others and learning the basics of owning and managing a business.
In 2002, Coon's was bought out by a co-owner and after 10 years, Karen became the sole owner, giving her the opportunity and freedom to incorporate her personal style and experience into the vision she had for her store. As a successful business owner, Karen pours her spiritual and creative energy into providing products that not only make your visit to Salem memorable, but also improve your life.
By believing that what you put out into the world will come back to you, you can have a positive impact on others by giving the best version of yourself. The decision to completely remodel the store in 2018 was an opportunity to channel my creativity and watch my vision come to life.
It inspired me to pursue my vision of bringing more magic into people's lives. You can find products from local and international artists and be open to other creations. We are currently hiring two recent graduates from Montserrat College of Art who bring a wealth of innovative and creative energy.
