I've been reviewing software for PCMag since 2008 and I still enjoy seeing what's new in video and photo editing software and how operating systems change over time. Unfortunately, there are some hurdles to paying Amazon with cryptocurrency. This usually involves converting your cryptocurrency into fiat currency before using it to make a purchase with a virtual or plastic debit card. Another popular option is to fund Amazon gift cards with Bitcoin, Cardano, Ethereum, Litecoin or any other cryptocurrency you have.

BitPay offers a payment app and a debit card with which you can top up your cryptocurrency, including not only Bitcoin, but also Dai, Dogecoin, Ethereum, USD Coin and XRP. The app is available for Android, iOS and Windows 10. It also serves as a cryptocurrency wallet, which gives it an edge over online exchanges like Coinbase.
The main one is that your account assets remain on your local device, so you cannot lose them if someone hacks the online service that stores your cryptocurrency. However, connecting your Coinbase account to BitPay to fund your local wallet is quite simple. Alternatively, you can buy cryptocurrency directly from BitPay using a credit or debit card.
The Amazon gift card option is prominently displayed on the app's homepage, and I purchased it without paying any fees. There's even a Redeem Now option that takes you directly to the Amazon website and automatically applies the gift card code to your balance. Bitrefill claims it “makes it easy for anyone to make a living off of cryptocurrency”.
Why Did This Happen?
Like some of the other options here, you can buy gift cards with your cryptocurrency. When you buy an Amazon Gift Card with Bitrefill, you get 1% reward in your account. You can top up your card with Bitcoin, Dash, Dogecoin, Ethereum, Litecoin or Tether using a standard QR scan or by entering your wallet address.
There is also an option to link a Coinbase account, although you might want to leave that separate for safety. Paying Amazon with Bitrefill isn't as streamlined a process as BitPay or Purse, although you can copy the gift code with one click and go to Amazon armed with it.

Blockcard offers a Visa debit card that you can top up with your cryptocurrency. You can fund your account with BAT, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dai, Ethereum, Litecoin, Stellar Lumen, Tether, USD Coin or Uniswap. You can choose virtual or plastic cards, and soon also metal cards.
The virtual one is free, but you need to deposit $10 to get the plastic one. Blockcard does not charge transaction fees for deposits or conversions, but there are (opens in new window) fees for some things like PIN or ACH transactions ($1) and ATM withdrawals ($3).
