Former Cincinnati Red Barry Larkin recently had a street named after him, and now he has a new name. The Cincinnati Zoo wanted to celebrate the former shortstop's birthday by making him one of the zoo's pets. The zoo has chosen the six-week-old African penguin to be named Larkin.

There are many Cincinnati Reds fans on the bird team, including myself, and I lived in the same neighborhood as Larkins when I was a kid," Ricky Kinley, president of the Cincinnati Zoo Bird Club, said in a statement. "Our daughter was two weeks old when the city of Cincinnati renamed a street after Barry Larkin, and that gave me the idea to name a penguin after her."
