Tip. This course is based on the skills I teach step by step, so if you are just getting started with your machine, I suggest you read/follow each step. The tools and materials needed for this project are simple and you may already have them.
1. You can use any Cricut machine for this project. If you're using a Cricut Joy, you'll need a Joy mat and a fine-grit blade. 2. These gift tags have very intricate cuts, you don't need a brand new mat, but you do want the mat to be sticky enough to hold the paper in place.
3. The Brayer is one of my favorite Cricut tools because it allows me to slide and adhere my materials to the mat. You can also use your hands or a scraper. 4. Sometimes complicated cuts stick to gift tags, so a weder is needed to remove stubborn cuts.

5. Bad, cheap paper equals bad, cheap gift tags. I use black, white, red card and foil. Shop for Christmas themed colors and enjoy matching them. Believe it or not, choosing the right paper combination can be one of the most time-consuming parts of a project.
Be careful. Do not use glossy card on the front of gift tags. The cuts are very complicated and I don't want you to get frustrated or damage your precious paper. You can use glitter card on the back of the gift tags. As I mentioned earlier, here is the template for this project.

You MUST be on a desktop or laptop to download the files and click the button to start the download on your computer. Depending on your browser settings, your computer will ask you where to save the file, or multiple files in your downloads folder.
If the image opens in a new window (this may be due to your browser settings), right-click on it, select "Save Image As" and choose where you want to save the file. Now, in the color box next to the Action option, change the color of labels with complex cuts to yellow (whatever color you're using) and the color of solid labels to black. I like to change the order of colors in my projects. The first four labels are gold on the front and black on the back.

I want my next four tags to be black on the front and gold on the back. Continue to select four solid markers and change the color to yellow, then repeat the same process with gift markers in complex colors; only at this time change the color to black.

Save your project and click the "Make" button in the upper right corner to send it to your machine. If you have a device with Smart Set Dial, please move it to the custom option to be able to follow this tutorial. Depending on the Cricut you own, you have different options for loading items.
