You are not alone. According to Expedia, searches for London hotels increased by 4,285% after the coronation date was announced, with Americans making the most searches, followed by the British, Canadians, Germans, French and Australians. The coronation itself takes place on May 6, but there are plenty of activities to keep royal fans busy on site.
Here's what to expect. Be prepared for delays if you arrive at Heathrow Terminal 5 before the coronation or if you depart a few days later. Security staff at the terminal, which is used exclusively by British Airways, a code partner with American Airlines, are due to strike May 4-6, as well as May 9-10 and May 25-May 27 to protest low pay.

So it's worth checking again and rebooking if the day of travel falls through.
The actual coronation will take place on the morning of Saturday, May 6, at Westminster Abbey. The service itself is VIP only, but the public can watch the walk along the 1.3 mile route from Buckingham Palace to the Abbey. The couple will travel to the Abbey in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach.
They will walk down the long, straight Mall from the Palace, Admiralty Arch, turn right, travel through Whitehall and Parliament Square, ending at the Abbey at 11am. On the return, they follow the same route in the opposite direction, but the procession is much larger, slower and grander, especially since they travel on an 18th-century Golden State couch.

The procession will be joined by other members of the royal family, as well as around 4,000 servicemen and women. If you love the pomp and circumstance of royalty, you'll want to check this out. And if watching TV isn't good enough, you should add a British pastime to your trip: queuing.
Check Your Hotel Booking Again
There will be public viewing areas throughout the Mall and Whitehall. They open at 6 a.m. and close once they fill up, which can be fast. Available space is also on a first-come, first-served basis. The best place to see. A shopping center is an ideal location.
