There are night buses that travel from Medan to Banda Aceh between 9am and 1pm. Major bus companies such as PMTOH, Pelangi, Kurnia and Pusaka have offices at Jl. Gaja Mada, Medan. Prices range from Rp. 110,000 for a standard bus to Rp. 200,000 for a wide-seat bus.
Minibuses can take you to Banda Aceh around Medan, but the journey is longer. The price is a little cheaper than the coach. It is also possible to travel from Medan to Banda Aceh via Kutakane and Takegon. It will take 20 hours in total.
