In some cases, women who receive the card are not pregnant. The postcards are filled with gift cards for mom-related items, BBB said. In some cases, coupons are included with gift cards, and they all add up again to Pleasant Grove, Utah-based Mother's Lounge LLC, the BBB said.
A woman named Elizabeth of the DeKalb County community of Genoa called the BBB to report what she thought was a scam. She received a card with gift cards and coupons late last month and realized they were worth $245, BBB said. The BBB said Elizabeth is not pregnant and does not know how or why she got on the mailing list.

The company sends gift cards to its various online businesses, BBB said. The BBB chapters serving Northern Nevada and Utah have 15 affiliated businesses—including Express Gift Cards and Canopy Couture. Gift cards have been sent across the United States and Canada in envelopes that appear to have lost their return labels, when in fact they never had labels in the first place, BBB said.
The BBB said it was a marketing ploy to make the envelope look like a friend's mail. "Past complaints from BBB customers who added a gift card to their order saw an increase in shipping costs. This increase covers most of the cost of the gift card," said Steve Bernas, BBB.
President and Chief Executive Officer. operating in Chicago and northern Illinois, he said in a news release. "These cards are being sent to women across the United States and Canada with many complaints coming from the Midwest. We are concerned that customers in Chicago and northern Illinois will be targeted soon."

The BBB said it had asked business owner Janet Pearce to explain the price hike, but had not received a response. The BBB has reviewed more than 55 complaints and fraud-tracking reports for Mom's Lounge — saying customers who shopped on its website received lower-quality products than expected.
The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers about gift cards sent by moms who wholesale and distribute baby products. Jenny Eisenhoth of Maryland received a card congratulating her on her pregnancy and a card full of gifts and coupons for baby products and a receipt showing who bought them for her.
But Eisenhuth has no children. "It's from ThinkfulGiftCards.com and it lists five gift cards up to $245," he said. The card is signed by Jenny and looks like the return address label fell off the envelope. "And I really sent it." I got the whole video from some of my friends, and two of them said, 'Yeah, my friend got it. It's a scam,'" Eisenhoth said.

It's not a scam, but a marketing campaign by Mama Lounge, where 20 websites sell baby products. "The Better Business Bureau gave Mother's Lounge an F rating," said Kelsey Coleman of the BBB. As they are sent to a friend, including a mark on the envelope to indicate that it has been returned, the address label is removed.
and the ink has run out on the inside of the card, which is actually printed and not handwritten. now," Coleman said. Gift cards and coupons work, but they usually bring the entire household spend less than free shipping. "So there's no real savings or benefit in using a gift card when shipping is going up now, and that's what the Business Bureau describes as fraudulent advertising," Coleman said.
