The card was signed Jenny B and the return address label appeared to have fallen off the envelope. "I actually sent the video of the whole thing. I went to some of my friends and two of them said, 'Oh, my friend got it. It's a hoax,'" Eisenhuth said.

Recipients, including some in Northern Illinois, reported receiving cards congratulating them on their pregnancies from someone calling herself "Jenny B," the BBB said in a news release.
In some cases, the women receiving the cards are not even pregnant. BBB said the cards being sent were filled with gift cards for maternity products. In some cases, coupons were included with gift cards, all of which were tied to Utah-based Mother's Lounge LLC's Pleasant Grove, BBB said.

A woman named Elizabeth from the DeKalb County community of Genoa called the BBB to report what she thought was a scam. Late last month she received a card with gift cards and coupons valued at $245, BBB said. Elizabeth is not pregnant and does not know how or why she got on the mailing list, BBB said.
BBB said the gift cards the company sends are for its various online businesses. BBB chapters serving Northern Nevada and Utah have found 15 partner businesses — including Thoughtful Gift Cards and Canopy Couture. BBB said the gift cards were sent to the US and Canada in envelopes that appeared to be missing return labels, when in fact they never had return labels.
The BBB said it was a marketing ploy to make the cover look like mail from a friend. "In past complaints BBB customers found that adding a gift card to their order increased shipping costs. This increase appears to cover the bulk of the cost of the gift card," said BBB President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Bernes.
Serving Chicago, Northern Illinois, said in a news release. "These cards are being sent to women across the US and Canada, with many complaints coming from the Midwest. Our concern is that consumers in Chicago and across northern Illinois may soon be targeted." BBB said it asked business owner Jeanette Pearce to explain the price increase but did not hear back.
The BBB reviewed more than 55 complaints and scam tracker reports about Mother's Lounge — which say customers who bought from its website received products of lower quality than expected.
