Candle Gift Wrap Ideas

Good wrapping makes a gift even more special and increases the joy of receiving (and giving) it, but we all know that some things are easier to wrap than others. Candles come in a variety of shapes and sizes, some with glass bowls and others as taper candles that often come in a gift box.

Start by choosing a color and theme for your wrapping material—coordinate the wrapping paper, bow, and any decorative gift decorations you use for a great-looking wrapped gift. Choose Your Gift Wrap

If you're wrapping a cylinder candle in a jar: first place the wrapping paper face down on a flat surface, then place the candle on top of it, then roll it up to measure the size of paper you'll need. Some wrapping paper has a grid pattern on the back to make it easier to measure and cut a straight line.

Once you've measured the size you'll need, make the cut. For a clean, professional look, make a one-inch crease on both cut sides of the paper so there are no rough, uneven edges. Next, starting from the left side of the wrapping paper, roll the cylinder candle towards the right end of the paper, until it is completely wrapped.

Then, discreetly secure the paper with a few pieces of tape. Reach inside the wrapping paper and position the candle so there is a two inch overhang of the wrapping paper at the bottom end of the candle. If the candle is extremely large, you may need a two-inch overhang of paper to cover the bottom, so measure the width of the candle to double check.

Choose a starting point and begin folding the wrapping paper to hang the base of the cylinder under the candle. Make each wrap neat and clean so your wrap looks neat. After you've rolled up the entire width of the candle, use one or more pieces of tape to secure it.

Measure And Cut The Paper

This is an optional step: If the wrapping around the bottom of the candle isn't as neat as you'd like or doesn't cover the entire base of the cylinder, cut a circle out of the wrapping paper a quarter inch smaller than the base of the candle.

Then, glue to cover the base using a glue stick or double sided tape. There are two options at the top of the candle; you can use the method from steps five and six to match the bottom of the wrapped candle, then attach a large pre-made bow to the top to cover the ribbon and add a decorative touch to the gift.

The second option is to position the candle and hold the top of the wrapping paper, gently pulling it back like a bottleneck over the candle. Take a piece of ribbon, thread or string and tie it around the "neck of the bottle" and make a nice decorative bow.

Tie a seasonal gift tag and add small gift toppers like bells, a set of small non-sticky ornaments, or a small pine cone to dress it up. Fluff and straighten the top of the wrapping paper, trim if necessary and you're done. During giving season, it's the thought that counts, the feeling that's easiest to convey when you're wrapping gifts for your loved ones.
