Since Justin is an artist, musician, and singer/songwriter, the shop has a piano for occasional open mic nights, as well as Justin's artwork and unusual greeting cards.

One card says, "So you're getting a divorce?" Justin started selling books at Highland Java, Breckenridge's first coffee shop. Over the years, it has grown organically, moving to a small shop and neighboring shops have become empty. Jeff grew up in Denver and has lived in Breckenridge all his life. Their first joint venture in the 1990s was the vanguard of a new business model that is now ubiquitous - the coffee shop. They opened Highland Java and spent 10 years on the same principle as a toy store: creating a place where the community gathers.
