Be Sealed With The Gift Of The Holy Spirit
Ephesians 1:13 The Bible says, "When you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in it, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit that was promised." What does it mean to be sealed with the Holy Spirit? A stamp is an identification mark often placed on a letter, contract or other document.
It shows that what was in the letter came from someone with an outside stamp. Even cattle and slaves in the ancient world were marked with seals to show who they belonged to. This mark would prevent people from stealing because they had a stamp.
The Bible uses this term in many different ways, and when viewed together, they help give a complete picture of what Paul is looking for here in Ephesians. In the Old Testament, God set a mark on His chosen people to mark His ownership or distinguish them and save them from destruction (Ezek 9:4-6).
What Is A Seal?
In Revelation 7:3 we read that God places a seal on His people to identify them and save them from wrath. We also see that the guards placed a large stone over Jesus' tomb to seal it (Mt. 27:66) and John had to seal the prophetic words (Rev. 22:10).

This communicates safety. We also read that God confirms his relationship with the seal (John 6:27). This is similar to Abraham's conception of circumcision as a sign and seal of his righteousness (Rom. 4:11). If we put this together, we see that a seal in the scriptures represents the ownership, protection and validation of a relationship.
But what is the seal of Ephesians 1? The seal is not the "what" but the "who" - take another look at v.13, "[you] were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit." The Holy Spirit is the seal of the Christian. He seals his people. The Spirit of God comes to indwell or dwell in the believer.
And I think the above nuance applies here. The promised Holy Spirit identifies God's people as His inheritance. And the experience of the Holy Spirit in the believer's life is proof to him, and to others, of the reality of his faith. The Holy Spirit assures us that we are children of God (cf. Rom. 8:15-16; Gal. 4:6).
What Is A Seal?
Other verses where we see this concept developed in the New Testament: You have not received a spirit of slavery to fall into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption as children, through which we cry: "Abba! Father!" The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God. (Rom. 8:15-16) But when the fullness of time had come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law.
so that we may regard them as children. . And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying: "Abba! Father!” (Gal. 4:4-6) [He] who also set his seal on us and gave his Spirit as a guarantee in our hearts.

2 Cor. 1:22) And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of salvation. (Eph. 4:30) By giving us the Holy Spirit, God seals or seals us in His conversion. And then the Holy Spirit continues to testify, verifying the reality of this relationship, becoming more and more like Jesus.
God who has thus authenticated this relationship will surely protect His people through trials and tribulations. He will do this until we take possession of his inheritance, at the end of the day of redemption (Eph. 1:14). Being sealed with the Holy Spirit is a gracious gift from God that demonstrates the authenticity of a believer's relationship with Him and His authority, ownership, and commitment to His people.
