Using a 12" x 24" piece of cardstock, you can make this box even larger than the hats pictured. This project works best with the Correct Maker and Scoring Wheel. Tip Wheel Scoring Stylus Applies up to 10x more pressure, allowing you to work with thicker materials with ease. Extra deep score lines that make folding your 3D projects easier. You can still fold the project with the Explore machine.
You can use a score pen, but the score lines won't be as deep. It's possible to make this hat without a stylus or pointing wheel, but you'll have to manually fold the paper where the pointing lines are. Will go through the process. Open Cricut Design Space and click + to create a new project. If you are a DesignSpace PRO, you can skip to step 2. Navigate to the file on your device to click "Open" to add it to Correct Design Space.
What Size Are The 3D Baseball Cap Gift Boxes?
On the preparation screen, you can edit the project name and add tags. Click on "Download". After uploading the file, select it and click "Insert Images" to bring it to your canvas. Start by selecting your file. Then click "UNGROUP" in the Layers panel. Next, change the cut lines to "SCORE" with the hat tabs.
Next, change the cutting lines on the rectangular pieces to "SCORE". Next, change the cap cut lines (which look like seams) to "PEN". This needs to be done for both the cap pieces as well as the brim. Here is a close up of the file.
Be sure to set the pan line to the innermost line and the score line to the outermost line. Connect the "SCORE" and "PEN" lines to their respective cut lines to ensure they are in the correct position. Start by removing the clear liner from your Cricut mat, then set it aside.
Place the cardstock on the mat and press the paper firmly to stick to the mat. This step is very important when cutting cardstock to ensure you get the best possible results. *Pro Tip – For best results, always check your blade before cutting cardstock.
Scoring Tips & Tricks For The Best Results
If it's covered in small pieces of cardstock, press down on the plunger to reveal the blade and blow gently on it to remove the debris. Don't forget to charge your pointing stylus or pointing wheel so the machine can draw your pointing lines. This helps give you a guide as to where to turn.
After the machine has cut out the design, remove the mat from the machine. Repeat this process until you have cut out all the pieces for your baseball cap gift box. Flip the mat right side down and gently peel the paper off the mat.
Lay out all the pieces of the baseball hat gift box. You should have a total of eight cut pieces. There are two pieces that make up the brim of a baseball cap. Apply the adhesive to the edge that has no seam lines. Place the pieces along the top seam lines and press firmly to seal the pieces together.

This creates a solid base for your gift box. Start by applying adhesive to the tabs and aligning the two pieces together. Bend the tabs along the score line that supports the entire length of the side. Apply adhesive to the tabs along the entire length of the side bracket.
Step #1: Upload The 3D Baseball Hat Gift Box Cut Files
The side supports will now be placed around the circle. Be sure to place the tabs under the circle. It creates a clean finish. Glue the circular base to the edge. Press firmly against the inside of the circle to make sure the two halves are completely together.
Let's start by creating the pieces of our hat. This step is really important if you want your hat to be round in shape. The pointed part of the hat should be shaped inward to mimic the shape of a baseball cap. You can do this by using a cricket scraper from the edge of the table.
This technique is clearly demonstrated in the video tutorial) The bottom of the hat pieces must be rounded so that they fit around the circular base. Taking the time to shape your pieces before putting them together will ensure they fit together and give the hat a more realistic look.
Gently bend all the tabs along the hat panels inward toward the wrong side of the hat. Be careful, this is the hardest part of the project! You may need a practice ride before you get there! Apply a line of adhesive along the wrong side of the hat following the curve of the hat panel.
